Foundation

In our area, building on a solid, structurally sound foundation is one of the most critical aspects of new home construction.

Which is better…a block or poured basement?

Some builders use a block foundation wall, others specify poured concrete walls and still others offer buyers a choice. Poured concrete is the best choice for our climate and soil conditions…here’s why.

Foundation plaque with unique certification number to reference foundation’s custom properties.

Poured foundations are:

  • Stronger and more durable with reinforcing rebar
  • Designed to control cracking and resist water penetration through control joints with "Water Stop"
  • More impervious to moisture (result is a dryer basement)
  • More flexible for unique home shapes/designs
  • Attractive…the stamped brick interior adds architectural interest (ask if it's an upgrade)
  • Comparable to the cost of a block foundation once the block foundation is backfilled with stone (as required by code to minimize problems)

Better builders like James Craig use only the Integra™ Foundation System from Coello & Associates. Combined with the Form-a-Drain tile system, it is the strongest and most reliable foundation system. In case there is ever a concern, every basement has a unique plaque from Coello & Associates that displays the foundation's specific number for easy reference.
